Sugar Sugar

Hello all,

Today, we are making a fun graphic card using the Sin City Stamps Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls stamp sheet. (Fun fact for anyone new to unmounted rubber stamp sheets: after cutting apart the stamps, use a little bit of a two way glue pen on the back of the stamp so it will stick to the acrylic blocks or Misti thus not requiring foam mounting.)

   Sin City Stamp:
Day of the Dead Sugar Skulls

   Other supplies:
Card stock- white, blue and black
     Foam tape
     Sentiment dies
    Colored markers
Wink of Stella or iridescent watercolors, markers....
     Graphic background stamp
     Black detail Ink
     Acrylic block or Misti

Step 1:  Using the black ink, stamp the graphic background image onto a 5"x7" piece of cardstock.

Step 2:  Stamp the sugar skull of your choice onto a small piece of cardstock.

Step 3:  Cut out the skull and color using your markers.  Next add some sparkle on the eyes and teeth.

Step 4:  Cut the cardstock layers in colors of your liking; determining the size by dry fitting the pieces to insure card balance.

Step 5:  Assemble the layers of cardstock onto the background.

Step 6:  Die cut your sentiment.

Step 7:  Use foam tape to "pop-up" the skull on card.  Glue sentiment in place.

Thanks for coming by, as my post is part of the blog hop!
You can see the rest of the participants here.
Happy hopping and good luck!

Time Flies when you are Clowning Around

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here with a inspirational post made with Sin City's gorgeous stamps!
This time I made a square chipboard art piece using just two  stamps, but pretty big ones and one sentiment stamp that made my title: Time flies when you are clowning around.
And time sure flies when you have great  time!!

Product list:
SinCity stamps:
Steampunk circus rubber stamp set- Clown and the sentiment

Other products:
Texture paste
Modeling paste
Acrylic paints in white,
Metallic Gold acrylic paint
3D art stones or micro beads
A 6"x6" chipboard square
Color ink mists in yellow, brown, teal, copper and purple
Black permanent ink
Tissue paper - white
Gel Medium
Letter stickers

Step by step instructions:

1.Cover the chipboard  with white gesso and let it dry.

2. Place the stencil on top of the dry chipboard. Spread a thin layer of modeling paste and then lift off the stencil. Completely let the raised design dry before moving onto the next step.

3. Mix the white paint with art stones or micro beads.

4. Add the mixture to the chipboard piece as shown.

5. Mist the right side of the board with yellow and brown.

6. Add teal and copper mists, then cover the raised areas with gold paint.

7. Stamp the collage stamp with permanent black ink onto white tissue paper.

Stamp the sentiment and clown in the same way.

8. Glue the stamped tissue piece over the board with gel medium.

9. Add the clown too.

10. Glue the clown tissue piece as shown with gel medium.

Add purple paint over the edges.

Make the rest of the title with stickers.

11. Add a few purple splashes over the finished art piece.
Add a couple of purple pearls.

I hope that you liked my art piece and see you soon again!

The Butterfly Garden Scrapbook Page

Hello all
Today you are going to learn how to create this mixed media scrapbook page.

Products used:

Brusho ink or watercolors
Ink Misters in green,
Water mister
Various trims
Paper doily
label maker
Woodlands 8 x 8 paper pad
Colored paper

To create the background first cover the center in gesso and leave to dry.
Next spritz water onto the page and then flick green brusho powder over using a paint brush.
Use the textures from the Art Journal set and stamp around the page randomly.

Select your photo and mount onto patterned paper leaving a cm or 1" border around it.
Take a couple of the sheets from the 8 x 8 pad and chop them up into strips.
Arrange them over each other so that the layers overlap each other and spritz a doily with green ink and tuck behind the picture before gluing everything into place.

Gather an assortment of trims and cut them up into different lengths and place them beside the paper layers and glue down. Create a title using a label maker and use strong glue to hold the title in place.

Using the flowers from The Day Of The Dead and Rosette Hearts set, Stamp them onto colored paper and cut them out. Dot the flowers around the layout and glue pearls into the centers.

Finish of the layout by adding a few more flower clusters.
